Tokyo Spring Events in July

SPRING

O
n Sunday 5 July at 4pm Sulejman and the Japanese crew will screen Boy A. Click here for the English trailer. This event is primarily in Japanese (see below) but there will be some interpreting for Non-Japanese speakers if required.

On Sunday 12 July at 4pm the English language event sees special guest film maker Yumiko Hayakawa present her documentary “Brian & Co. Parliament Square SW 1”. This is a Bi-lingual production with Japanese narration and English interviews with participants in Brian Haw’s legendary peace camp in London city centre. English subtitles will be displayed on the screen.Offering a unique insight into aspects of British society that many may not be familiar with – from pacifism to counter-culture to surveillance society and the attack on freedom of speech in the UK, we strongly encourage both Japanese and non-Japanese participants to come and support Yumiko.

peace on earth

This film will be of particular interest to those of you involved in or interested in anti-war organisations as well as those of you who are opposed to war but who are not pacifists. As usual there will be a discussion after the movie and Yumiko will be available to answer questions. More info on Brian Haw is available here and you can see an interesting snippet from YouTube here.

So, as usual, Bring a Friend and an Open MInd! (Japanese follows)
